At EPERIA, we care about protecting the environment and supporting the local community, which is why we implement our activities in accordance with ESG principles. We are proud to be holders of the prestigious BREEAM Excellent environmental certificate, which ranks us among the greenest shopping centers in the world. In addition to BREEAM certification, we also actively implement other sustainable activities.
EPERIA is one of the greenest shopping centers in the world thanks to the BREEAM EXCELLENT certificate. Energy efficiency, ecological construction and overall environmental management are assessed.
The building uses intelligent systems – heat recovery, energy-saving lighting and automated measurements – which reduce energy consumption and improve visitor comfort.
The center is fully barrier-free and accessible to all visitors. There is also a public transport stop right next to EPERIA, which supports comfortable and ecological transport. There are chargers for electric cars, bicycle stands and parking for shared scooters.
EPERIA built an outdoor playground, which is now one of the most popular places for families in Prešov. In cooperation with the local government, a modern outdoor workout playground for the public was also created in Sekčov. Both spaces support an active lifestyle, community gatherings and contribute to improving the quality of life of the city's residents.
The surroundings of EPERIA are rich in greenery, complemented by elements to support biodiversity – a bumblebee hive, a bird and bat house, and an insect hotel. We have gradually planted over 120 trees and more than 1,000 ornamental plants. The second phase also includes a new park with a rain garden and a meadow full of meadow flowers, which naturally retains rainwater and improves the microclimate.
EPERIA operates a rigorous waste separation system, including sorting in the food court and bins throughout the center. In the background, we use compactor containers, a refrigerated biowaste warehouse, and professional sorting areas. Waste is processed by a certified company, which significantly reduces the amount of waste ending up in landfills.
At EPERIA, we give materials a second life and reduce waste. We hand over used gift cards to Fecupral for recycling, we turn old advertising banners into Dorka Bags, and discarded posters go to kindergartens, where they are used by children for creative activities.
We offer free umbrella, bike lock, stroller and wheelchair rentals at the information desk, making it easier for families, seniors and people with limited mobility to visit. These services improve the accessibility of the center, encourage responsible behavior and contribute to our ESG goals.
The modernized changing areas are spacious and accessible even for parents with strollers or wheelchairs. A new feature is a special counter for older children with disabilities with their own private toilet. Eperia is a place where we think about the needs of all families.
